Oil Consumption
I have a 97 A4 2,8 I just changed the oil on my car like 200 miles ago, 10W30 Mobil One synthetic 5 bottles. Its been like a week so far with another 300 miles added on and I check the dip stick. Their is no more oil. But after I run my car for awhile, and check the stick the oil is still wet with oil. Basically if once i take out the stick and clean it off and then put it back in again to check, their is no oil. Does anyone know if this is normal, or is my engine leaking oil. I had it running in my driveway for a few mins, and nothing was leaking out everything was fine. Any advice is appreciated.

Did you check the oil level after you refilled the engine with oil?
I think the 2.8 engine requires more than 5 qts. My guess is you didn't put enough oil in.
So when you say oil consumption...do you really mean that you never checked the oil level to begin with?...so you're not really sure any oil was in fact consumed?

you car takes 6 quarts of oil
try the 10w40 for the twelve valve engine you can use thicker oil and never have oil comsumption problems
the 30 valve uses about 1 quart every 600 miles and is considered normal

i agree
but the audi dsm can tell you the same thing
is in the audi dealer repair manuals
i say is bs
but 30 valve engines use a lot of oil
i have an old benz with 250k miles and no oil usage at all
but audi uses very thin oil because of the 5 valve technology ask how many 2.7 and 1.8 motors have lubrication problems

Audi's manuals are full of bs...
I had a 1.8T, and presently have a 2.7T. Both have 30V engines, and neither has an issue with oil consumption. I add NOTHING between 5K oil changes. Any engine that consumes a qt every 600 miles needs to be rebuilt or checked for major seal leaks.
