D Spin

Dealership changed the oil last, I think they over tightened it. I even broke my 15" Craftsman breaker bar trying to get the plug out. (good thing for Craftsman lifetime warranty!) Any Ideas? I did a search and came across others with the same problem but no real soloutions, I'm on the verge of striping the bolt now. Might it be easier to get out when the engine is cold?

use a 1/2" impact tool socket (the thick black ones) with a breaker bar, then put a big long (like 4-5 ft) pipe over the breaker bar. works every time, for me at least :P

Bring it back, talk to the manager, bring your own torque wrench, tell tham to use it 37ft lbs? iirc

Last time I had new tires put on they overtightened the lug bolts like crazy. I needed a 5 foot pipe and my dad and we still had a hard time

told them to take it off the lift and he made the manager get the lug wrench out of the trunk and try to take it off..(he couldnt) the guy then proceeded to tell the manager that he was 80 years old and that there are torque specs for the lugs. frickin dealers

The impact socket worked great, I actually bent the pipe I was using for leverage. I ended up getting the socket wrench into position and then gave it a few kicks, that finally cracked it. Changed the oil and torqued the plug to the CORRECT measurement. I was worried that I might have a lot of trouble with the filter as well but it turns out it was the complete opposite, the thing basically fell off the minute I grabbed it. I was able to loosen it with my weak hand, suprised it wasn't leaking!

Well, one broken breaker bar and two broken sockets later I finally got my oil changed. I think a special thanks is in order to the dealership. Man that $95.00/hr is really worth it for the 'highly trained' Audi mechanics! Good for them!
