Oil Season

Oil Season
Lots of people say they use 0w40 in the summer and a 5w40 in the winter. Shouldnt it be the other way around? Oil thickens when it is cooler or colder outside and thins when warm or warmer outside, right? so wouldnt you want a thinner oil in the winter like 0w40 and a thicker oil in the summer like 5w40, so it flows better at inital start up? maybe it got it wrong, kinda curious since im about do for an oil change and it got a little colder outside and was thinking of using 0w40 mobile 1 and filter. i have always used 5w30 royal purple but been reading a lot about the oils on here cause ive been told 5w30 isnt as good as a 0w40 that everyone is apparently raving about how much better it is. so whats up?

I have never changed my oil due to the season/temp. 0w for winter and cold starts, 40 for the high
temps.
I switched to the 5w40 with the stage 3.
LOTS of info on oils, if you search, especially with Audi Junkie's name/number.
bottom line: at a minimum, stick with any oil that meets the VW 502 rating, change it every 5k with an OEM filter, do warm-ups & cool-downs and you'll be fine.

For 1.8t any 5w-40 is fine until it's far below zero f.The V6 can use other w-ratings in warmer temp
It's not that 5w-30 is worse or better, it's that it's specific for different engine designs. Also RP is **** oil and I don't say that about many/any. I would maybe use RP if it was free in a Cavalier my lawnmower, but probally not.

changing cause im replacing my oil level/temp sensor. thanks! thats what
i thought. some ppl were saying they switch to 5w in the winter and i didnt understand why! now im def sure that im gonna switch and keep it @ 0w40 (sounds like the best choice). i was thinking of getting a mobile 1 filter but i guess it cant be too much more for an OEM filter from the dealer, probably only a few bucks more (not one to cheap out on parts like my friends...whos cars always break or blow up lol), and i have heard their filters are pretty good from what ive read here. Thanks guys!!

lol...yea it has been sucking. thats another reason im trying to change it out!
lots of my friends and ex-mechanic said 'RP all the way' so i tried it but yea it does suck, not running as good as when i had v-synpower. i think RP is for domestics like the rustangs they all have (that are the cars that blow up and break down all the time like i talked about above lol).

after i got the chip i pulled the injectors to clean then and put new orings on but
saw they were the TT225 and not the stock ones. should i order stock injectors? would it perform better or be a waste of money?
