Ok I'm thinking about upgrading to xenon lights.....
I've got a 99.5 A4 and my question is this, I really want to upgrade to the type of xenon headlights that come as an option on the 00'+ A4/S4's, I'm talking about the lights that change from purple to white as you look at another audi approaching you. I've heard people talk about "e-codes" but I'm not sure if these are the same lights. Any info on this upgrade would be appriciated. Thanks all

some info
You have the projector type low beams right?
The kit below I think will work, check with the seller to make sure. It is for H7 type bulb replacement. It will work for the older reflector/luver style 3 beam lamp clusters.
the number ending in K is the color temperature measured in degrees Kelvin. 0 degree kelvin is absoloute zero. Light temperatures are stated like 4000K 6000K and such. The higher the number the more purple it gets, the lower the more red it gets. 6000K isnt bad, its not excessively purple or blue like 8000K can be. Color temp has NOTHING to do with lumen output AKA brightness.
Be careful how you align them, keep them lower than normal because you dont have automatic levelers. No you cant install auto levelers, it requires another computer of some sort and all sorts of sensors. So no. Just be respectful of oncoming traffic. I use 80w low beams on my porsche but I've never been flashed, because they are aimed low so they dont blind people.
an example of a HID kit on ebay. Just search for HID kit, there are hundreds of them out there. This one is $350 and it is complete.

There are several different MFG of ballasts, Matsu****a (panasonic)
Osram
Hella
any of those are good, if you have to pay extra to get them I would reccomend it, even if it is not necessary. As for HID capsules (bulbs/lamps) make sure they have the correct base for your lamp system. You probably have H7 low beams so make sure that your capsules have H7 bases so they line up correctly inside the housings with the reflector and lenses.
