Default OK, last Q for the night (limit=3) => Sunroof action

We all know of the possessed sunroof that opens & closes at will. Yes, mine likes to pop up on occasion... It vents open fine and usually closes flush with the roof OK. If I ask it to retract...it sinks down and starts to go back about 3 mms, than it stops with a nasty creak. It will close from the stuck position. Think its just a faulty switch or is it jammed?? The problem originated in a full open position, as it was sliding shut, it shuddered to a stop. I pushed it forward *gently* and it shut under its own power. It never retracted again since then, always jams after a few mms.

Default part of the sunroof lifting mechanism is made of a plastic like substance which is prone to breaking

I vote jam

Default could be a bird

Smell anything dead inside your car, cuz my friend had that happen to him, a bird flew into the sunroom jam, and when it closed, there was just a bunch of sheit that was wrong with his sunroof.
Just a guess.

Default Yup, the rails are plastic and break easily.

I had to have both rails replaced because the sunroof was making clicking sounds and sometimes would not close completely.

Default aw fudge.....I suppose I'll pop it out and weld in a metal plate....

stiffer chassis at least?? No more black flags at track events for the ol' "opened sunroof whilst on track mod".

seriously, I agree, its most likely jammed. Some of that there plastic pieces mentioned above did come off many years ago. I suppose it was time.
