Default OK. Yesterday I took quite a bit of ribbing for thinking about putting

2002 A4 17" 5-spoke wheels on my B5.

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/39740/1564.jpg">

I need new summer wheels (the 16" factory sport wheels are wearing Blizzaks) and I need some suggestions. Here are the requirements:

1. Strong 17" wheels for crappy midwestern roads.
(I know 18s are cool, look better and, etc., etc. but I have to drive this on roads strewn with potholes, frost heave, and chip-n-seal pavement).

2. Cost. I don't want to spend so much that I feel bad the first time I do drive on our fine streets, let alone crunch through a pothole.

3. Weight. Hey, this is my daily driver. I would rather have a solid wheel than save tenths of a second drag racing.

So let's hear what I should really buy.

(I kind of like the 5-spoke design esp. after seeing the Moda R6 wheels on cuprc's post earlier)

TIA for your thoughts.

Default Scot, I came very close to buying these for my B5. I've tried my friend's on my car and they look

great. Even brand new, they're probably cheaper (from the right seller) than 95% of aftermarket wheels out there and they have the added bonus of included Audi center caps! I say go for it.

Default I think the B6 sport package wheels look great on B5s.

When it comes down to it, get the wheels you want regardless of what others tell you.

Default I put them on

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/23640/100_0022.jpg"></center><p>I really don't care what other people think. They were my choice because:

a) Audi OEM guarantees a certain level of quality
b) I like the look and so does my wife. We'd considered a lot of different wheels and while this wasn't our absolute favorite, it was the best for the price
c) Speaking of, the price was right -- $1000 inc. a near-new set of Conti Sport 2s. Tires would have been $700 alone
d) I really wanted to upgrade to 17s and this was an easy, affordable, turnkey way to do it (came with center caps, exact fit, etc.)

Of course, right now my speedo is a little off since I'm running 235s and my gap is a little wider than I'd like. My plan down the line is to move back down to 225s and install the Neuspeed/Bilsteins to drop my car another .75" or so.
