Default Opinion Requested Re: Post Warranty reimbursement

I need advice. My 98 A4 quattro is 5 months past the three-year warranty, with only 28,000. Last month my differential seals needed replacing, along with a vacuum hose (for about 850 bucks). This month, I needed to replace a front left control arm (again for about 850 bucks).

Does anyone think I'll have any luck writing to Audi and requesting relief? PS, the car was PERFECT for the first three years, while it was on warranty......

Thanks for your help.

Default The control arms should be a recall item!!! check with AOA

I had mine replaced on a recall. As for the rest I doubt that Audi is going to pony up. It's funny I've been out of warranty now for about 5 months and I've started having a few things go wrong as well.

Vacuum Locking system is failing ( cracked plastic hose and possible dieing pump)
My air bag light just came on ( no idea what this is)

I would rec you look into aftermarket warranty comp. like warrantygold.com, warrantybytel.com, and 1sourceautowarranty.com, etc. For around $1,800 - $2,400 you can get up 100,000 miles of coverage just like the factory warranty(or pretty close)

best of luck

Default Control arms are not a recall...

...at least not a public recall. It might be one of the "silent" type...but it seems that some people have gotten parts/labor paid for by AOA ...others have just gotten a good deal on the parts but still had to pay labor. Seems to depend on your dealer and how willing they are to help you out. Good luck..

Default Mine were done as a recall item in '99 and the 2.8's are still getting them done as a recall.

I know someone here in the bay area who is waiting to get them done right now. She just has to set an appointment with an independent alignment shop before getting them done because she has a body kit and Audi can't do an alignment.

Worth checking with someone anyway. It's just a phone call.

Default Can you point me to more info on the recall? A recall number/description? Who to call?

Thanks much Mark...I was unaware of an official recall.
