Hyundai Elantra repair cost only ~$100.
Mercedes C320 >$1000.
Rear 5mph into a pole, decklid (trunk) of Mercedes can't be close :P

What do you expect?
That is like hitting a priceless Ming Vase and a fishbowl with a bat and seeing which costs more... If you notice in any safety rating Mercedes doesnt do very well in the cost to fix area.

Now let's examine the results of the 35 mph frontal collision tests on those same vehicles.
Anyone got a link? I'm too lazy, but I'm willing to bet that the cars that did poorly in the 5 mph test did exceedingly well in the 35 mph test.
