Default Parts needed for putting 1.8 tranny in 2.8 car?

Here is the deal. The tired 2.8 tranny has 200k miles and we have a lower milage 1.8 tranny in the garage. We are going to pull the swap this week. Would like to know what would be needed before we start the job and realize there are parts we must order. What mounts, gaskets, etc to use?

Why would you want to? The 1.8T tranny has even higher gear ratios. Ugh.

Default 3.5 to 3.77 gear ratio (in first just for example) isnt extreme. More..

Fifth gear wont be that noticable at all. Maybe a couple hundred rpm. 2.8 tranny is approaching 1/4 million miles and wants to die. Free 1.8 tranny sitting in garage. Thats why.

Default 400rpm difference in 5th gear at around 80-85mph.

This is why 1.8 owners end up with a 2.8 trans swap into their cars. Just in 3rd gear alone I got a 15 mph gain by 7800 rpm with the 2.8 trans vs the 1.8

Default Are you saying the 1.8 trans would be better for drag racing then the 2.8?

This would be true with stage 3 or less power, but once you start making more then that the first gear in the 1.8 trans becomes useless for launching.

Default Since no one actually answered your question:

Other than looking at the clutch for replacement needs and maybe tossing in a new rear main and release bearing since you are 'in there' you shouldn't need any parts to do the swap. You'll need to change the drivers side mount from the 1.8t to the 2.8 mount. I'd look at perhaps refreshing the two rubber bonded trans mounts currently in use in the 2.8 as 200k miles have probaby had a toll on them.
