I was just at the VW site and it said to get the 4motion you need tip..

"You have selected the 4Motion Package. That option is only available with the 5-speed automatic option"

does anyone know if manual will be offered ever?

General opinions are that VW is being pretty cautious with it's intro. of 4Motion (VW's marketing term for AWD). If the present cars are well received, manual 4Motions may be brought over for MY 2001.
