I think non-Audi enthusiasts wouldn't really know what to make of it one way or another.
A4/S4 owners would probably want to race, so you'd want to be sure you could back it up if you choose it
I think most people would take it with a smile, though there are always those few....

i once heard it described as......
the diffrence between running with the A/C on in hot weather Vs cold weather without A/C on (stock car)
mine was put on the same time as a few other mods, so its hard for me to tell the diffrence between each
but from what ive heard, the gains are definatly worth the price
