Default please help, dash-board message...

Guys, I have '96 A4 for 4 month already.
Before when I started the engine, it was blinking "OIL" for a few seconds.
It's already a second day a got "In I" or something like that instead?
Please, tell what is it???????

They are mileage/time based service indicators. THey need to be reset at the dealership. No harm if you kept up with the service.

Actually you can reset them yourself....read the owner's manual!

It is telling you to go in for "regularly" scheduled maintenance...it is not anything major

96 does not offer resetting of this without the VAG tool.

With the VAG tool, can you program it to *never* turn on these maintenence messages? This would be good for us DIY-ers who are past the maintenence warranty period.

dj,

I've heard that this can be done (but no first hand experience on this). Will check and post a follow up tommorow.
