Poll: Manual Transmissions
Hi all,
I'm a newbie in terms of driving manual, currently I'm trying to perfect my skills on a 99 A4 1.8TQ. I was told that the Audi manual is probably the most difficult to learn compare to other cars. Seems like there is a very precise/ or small leeway when the clutch engages and the car moves before the clutch is let out "too fast." Anyone else share the same frustrations? or hardships? Or should I start considering replacing the clutch since I brought the car used at around 69K miles. Thanks!!! Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

replace it after you get used to it
if its even slipping. Most of my friends with manuals have a hard time driving my car too, they usually rev inbetween shifts or end up taking off at 4k. *sniff* mmm burnt clutch

No way, A4 gearbox is very easy to shift, try driving....
an old 914(without the side shifter), 911(915 or 901 gearbox)Porsche. The real drawback of learning to drive stick on your A4 is that a replacement clutch is pricey. So , its an expensive way to learn. Learn on a Miata.
Audi clutches are much like Bimmers, very grabby, not easy to feather. You'll get used to it. Takes a week or two.
