Post-control arm repair rattle-vibration
Recently had upper control arms replaced by dealer based on well-known problem in this area. Noticed vibration at 75-80 mph appearing to come from front end. When I shut passenger door, there is a pronounced rattle from right front quarter. Going back to dealer on Thurs. Any hints?

Rattle possible fix....simple one too
I had a horrible rattle that started all of a sudden one day. When I would get out of the car and close the drivers side door I would get this wicked rattle. I began kicking the tire and sure enough it would rattle. I was pretty bummed and wanted to know right then and there what was wrong...so in the parking lot at work I tried my best to locat the source of the rattle, no luck.
So during my lunch break I made a more extensive investigation..i.e. I took the time to jack up that side of the car. Guess what it was...the lower engine cover thing (the one you take off for oil changes) had come loose at one of the screw points so the quick fastner that was supposed to be tightly held by the other piece was rattling around on its bracket. Using the trusty Audi screwdriver it screwed it back in place...now it's good as new, no more rattles.
I hope this helps you out...
