potential AC problem
I have a 96 A4 and have just recharged my freon for the second time in 2 years. The garage I took it to (non-Audi dealer) could not find the low-pressure valve and therefore could not put die into the freon to detect a leak. They did however use a "sniffer" machine and found no traces of leaking freon.
I have heard mixed comments...some people say that the new type of freon leaks out faster and that it is not abnormal to have to recharge the system every year. Others say that it is abnormal and I may have a leak.
My Audi xtended warranty expires in 2 months and I am worried that it will run out just before I realize that it is a faulty condensor/compressor..
Has anyone out there had a similar problem..is this another one of the "systemic Audi problems" like the control arms??
I have left a note in my file with AoA that I suspect a leak and hope that if something goes wrong after the warranty expires, I will have a leg to stand on.

First ,you need to go to a repair shop(Audi Dealer) that knows enough about your car to service the
AC properly. Leaks while not unusual are not a normal condition. Press them for a resolution to your problem.

The service manual says there is only a high pressure valve, but...
I have both a low and high valve on my system. Audi maust have made a change in '97. I have only added freon (little) once in over 4 years!
