My 99.5 1.8t is only making 1psi of boost. I did the TB last week and installed a new 710N and N75, and I noticed about 8oz of oil in the cross pipe to the intercooler.

I pressure tested it yesterday following the write-up in the FAQ. When I removed the PVC to cap the hose it also had some oil.

All I could hear was gurgling in what seamed to be the oil pan. I was using a hand pump, and it would not build any pressure.

I searched and found that some say that the gurgling is normal and I should build pressure by adding air faster. I'll try that this coming weekend but I thought that the only passageway for air to get to the oil pan would be the oil lines to the turbo and if they are leaking that much then the turbo is on its way out.

So following that train of thought, I must be pressurizing the oil lines with air from the turbo and I would guess that wouldn't be good.

Anybody have any thoughts?

remove the three bolts that hold the cat to the back of the turbo. Pry the cat back and use a mirror to look inside. You will probably find the wastegate stopper broken, which will require you to replace the turbo anyway.

And no, it probably isn't seals. For it to leak air into the crankcase at 5 psi it would be running out the seals at the 80 or so psi the oil pump puts out.
