Problem with engine idle when cranked
I've had a 2000 1.8TQM for around four months, and the car
HAD been running great.
Now I'm noticing something weird when I crank my engine after it
has been sitting overnight, or during the workday. The engine idles
up to nearly 2K RPM and sounds like it is about to stall.
After a minute or so, it idles back down to under 1K where it usually
is. This morning I could feel the frame shudder slightly as the
engine did this.
Has anyone else had this sort of issue? My car has always idled a little
harder when first started (up to 1.5K) and then settled down at under
1K within a minute or so. I have always thought it was normal, but now
it seems to be getting out of hand.
Any thoughts?
