Default Problem starting

I left my lights on one day in the cold and ruined the old battery in my 97 a4 2.8... i just bought a new duralast heavy duty today... it worked right when i put it in then i went to start the car and got nothing... no interior lights... one faint click when i tried to turn the engine over... when i hook the battery up to jumpers the car starts... any idea what it could be? and why all of a sudden with a new battery this would happen? please help. ~poor and audiless

yeah of course, it worked at like 1pm when i put the batter in... then it worked at 7 tonight when i drove to my buddies house.. 20 minutes later nothing.. i jumped it and it started right up... drove it on the highway doing 110mph seeing if that would help charge the battery if it needed it for whatever reason... got home turned the car off and it seemed like the batter was totally dead... the volt gauge is really high right now.. like at 15 its usually around 12 so i dunno... any thoughts?

Default when you put it that way

Alternator maybe? Sounds like your battery isnt charging itself back up

Something electrical isnt kicking and providing it juice to charge

When you drive it (dont have to do 110) for a while that should charge it back up and it should start back up...

If you have a VAG i'd do that BEFORE taking it to the dealer

It just seems weird that it would happen so fast... and that it starts with a jump... i could leave this new battery on for days and it would have enough juice.. something is seriously messed... looks like its time to collect cans for money...

Default VAG it.. or find someone with a VAG near you

but even if your battery is dead you can still jump it... that doesnt matter

youre 100% possitive your other battery was shot? did you have it tested?
