Look for cheap digital meter $4 to $20 if you can't afford a Fluke...
I've got an analog meter from Radio Shack that was about $75 years ago,a $20 analog meter from Lowes and 4 (yes 4) $4 digital meters from Marc's a grocery chain in Ohio .These same ones sell at Northern Hydraulics or Harbor Freight for more , about $10 to $20. About 3 of our techs at work use these cheap ones at home and leave the tougher Flukes at work . The biggest draw backs are they aren't auto ranging and they are cheap plastic .I've replaced two due to cable leads pulling out of the probes ,but for 4 bucks what do you expect ,just throw it away and get a new one ,they even come with a 9v battery ready to go. We've compared them to $400 meters and found they are very good at getting the same readings . I've even checked a 440v AC circuit and didn't fry my cheap meter ,such a bargain.
