Problems....HELP

Problems....HELP
So i took my 99.5 in to the mechanic to get the timing belt, water pump tensioners, all that replaced as well as the valve covers, b/c they found they were leaking oil.
I picked the car up yesterday afternoon in order to drive from MD to TN, and as i was going through traffic in DC I noticed that the car couldn't hold a steady idle it would bounce from 500 up to 1000 sometimes other times it would just pulse between 500-600 rpm, as i continued to drive, i noticed that i would have a sharp dip in power around 2800rpm when i'm accelerating mildly. the car seemed to really be struggling at low RPMs once it even stalled after i pulled it out of gear.
then when i got onto the highway and was cruising for a while, i started to get flashes across the dash, about half the warning lights on the dash would just flash all at once about once every half hour.
None of these problems were present before i took the car in, does anyone have any idea what could be going on?
now i obviously can't take the car back to the mechanic now in MD now that i'm in tennessee, and want to get this taken care of before i drive back on friday, but if this is due to some mistake or something they did, can i ask them to pay for the work it requires to fix?
