Q: Boost Controller & Nitrous
Is it possible to use a boost controller to adjust boost instead of chipping? Would I also then have to get a fuel controller too? Also, could nitrous be used safley in the 1.8T without too many bad side effects. It would be fun to use to beat up on some rice-burners with. Thanks, and please email answers if possible.

Uhh, I wouldn't do that if I were you.
I don't think Nitrous can really be considered safe, even in engines desiged for it.

I have a GReddy Profec A in my car (long)
I can't say it's completely safe for my car, but I have an air/fuel ratio gauge, and when I have my Wett 1.0 bar chip in my car I usually run a bit rich even though I set the boost to about 1.2; however, when I have my stock chip in the car, I run quite lean unless I keep boost to under .6 bar.
The biggest surprise is the performance gain. There is less lag, and I have been able to keep 1.0 bar of boost all the way up to 5200 rpm. Then it tails off to about 0.8 or so. On a nice cold day, I actually ran about 1.3 bar on my K03. YEAH, a K03!!! One of the problems with a boost controller that I've noticed is that if I let go of the throttle quickly, there's a HUUUGE jerk. But it's ok, I think it's worth it. I was hoping to put a K04 in my car, but my tiptronic tranny won't be able to take the power, so I guess I'm gonna start doing mods that make my car look better.

Nitrous is more than safe if properly
installed and not abused (1.8T with a stock
bottom end should only see a 50-75hp shot,
THATS IT!). UPRD sells a kit with jets and
everything you need for you Audi for a lil over
$500. Oh, and be careful on the street, because an instant 50-75hp is a real jerker down a 4 lane road.<p>Audi A41.8TQA
