Default you are not busy enjoying the fine ride, handling and performance features

at worst, cat abuse?? Maybe poor break-in of the rings and pistons...but Im really reachin for crap here.......I dont care if my car idles for 20-30 mins, heck, at least the 'turbee' is getting a nice supply of oil.

You mean initially, right after you start the car up?

Default it's bad during warmup because the engine doesn't reach operating temp. fast enough

,compared to being under load.

Default Plus the rest of the drivetrain is bone cold.

Driving away and keeping the revs down will warm the entire car up miuch better versus letting the car idle for a minute in your driveway.

Default cold oil stays on the bottom of the engine for one...

if it's cold outside, (normally) your idle will sit around 1100-1200 for 10-20 seconds; I usually wait for the idle to go down to normal (on its own, not by revving) and then drive slow enough to keep the car out of boost and shift very low in the RPMs until the oil needle moves just a tick.

so true...those 1-2 shifts are a pain after a cold startup

Default thanks for the input. i need to wax my car in cold weather and since i dont have a garage

i'm thinking of running the engine while using the power inverter to run a space heater/floodlight/buffer/hdtv/jacuzzi etc . we're looking at 10min idling periods at a time maybe
