Default question for all the stereo guys....

sorry i know this aint the audio forum but reply's are quicker here, and i need an answer asap b/c i am having my stereo installed tomorrow at 10am.

will it even make a difference running the 1.2 farid cap to the 300/4 which powers my highs? from what i have heard it wont b/c the cap stores power and sends it to the amp when the bass hits, and my highs dont really wont be set to produce much bass.

also will i be ok running my kicker r13 tweeters off of the 50/4 preamp on the headunit by hooking their cross over to the speaker wires on HU????
(i want these tweetrs mounted on the rear deck with the two pioneer 3 way 6.5". my head unit has 3 rca jacks that will have the rca's from the amps ran to them "(font output) (rear output) (sub output)" i went through 3 radio's in my old car and later found out the reason was b/c i had these tweeters/crossover ran to my 6.5" speakers in the doors (basicly a makeshift component set, and this blew the radio because a component set cant be hooked up without an amp.

Default Don't even bother with a cap, they are a waste of money and don't do anything, look at a batcap

If you really want to get a cap these are a lot faster at rechaging and acualy work somewhat. I would say just get an optima battery and with the stock alternator you should be doing pretty good. Caps really are only needed in cars with weak alternators, ie honda, acura, toyota etc. you get the idea, so I would say save the money, not worth it. Also I would say buy the stuff and install it yourself getting it installed is the biggest waste of money and the equipment is easy to install

http://www.batcap.net/

Default Don't waste your money on anything to boost you electrical strength EXCEPT an alternator

Caps, batcaps, etc are all WORTHLESS in your situation. If you are getting dimming or voltage drop, you need to get a bigger alternator. I highly doubt you will be drawing enough power to have any problems though.

So, save your cash, and enjoy the stereo.

Default Those JL amps don't need caps for your purpose...(long)

They have a special feature(I think it's called R.I.S.P.) that maintains a true constant power output, so a cap would make no difference as far as sound. As for vehicle power drops, I agree with these other guys and you should probably get an optima battery and/or a higher output alternator if you really have a problem. Have it all installed, and if you see power starvation then worry about, but I think you'll be fine.
Do not hook up those components to the head unit. It's not worth it. You'll have to add some other stuff so that the tweets are on the same output level as the amped speakers. i.e. with that much power the other speakers will sound great really loud, like 26 and above on the h.u. volume level, but the tweeters will distort at like 16 b/c they don't have enought power and their volume will be louder at lower levels, making the sound imbalanced. Use all pre-amp outputs or none at all. With those three ways in the back deck you shouldn't need the additional tweeters anyway.

Default Your old stereo setup was likely lowering the OHMS

Once you lowered the resistance, your stereo put out more power thus destroying itself. A good 850 cca and a 100 amp alternator is fine. Have fun and stay below 100 db if you wanna hear the rest of your life. OH, I would not run the tweeters off your headunit. Makes no sense to do all this and then skimp on running a few more wires and or a few more dollars.

Default I would not bother with the tweeters on the back dash your soundstage is better defined in the front

Just sell em. You will just annoy your rear passengers with tweeters and 3 way speakers. The sound will be plenty bright with a good set of components in the front.

I run a Sony 1000w amp in mine. It pushes two JL 10in. My light only dim slightly at top volume. I wouldn't bother with a cap.
