I would think that rolling the fenders is one of those things that tend..
to become practical. When you start dealing with a wider diameter tire in comparison from stock, you can look at rolling the fenders an investment so that you do not tear your tires up.

Tire size and wheel offset and wheel width all play part in either needing or not needing.
If you are talking about a 225 on a 8.5" wheel depending on the tire it may look stretched and <b>may</b> not need it. On the other hand it <b>may</b> need it.
A 235 size tire may very well need a fender roll.
On my 18x8 30 offset I rub with my BFG KDWII 225/40
On my 17x8 35 offset I rubbed with 235/40 but do not rub using my winter 225/45 size.
