Questions? Want to buy A4
I am looking for a '96 -'97 A4 to replace my 1988 BMW M5. I have a few questions: What type of gas milage do you get? How often are you making repairs, and how much do they cost? Are cars with aftermarket suspension hard to find? If you have a car for sale in the Bay Area, please post. I am interested. Thanks in advance,

I think Used A4's are hard to find periond suspension or not. Cost depends on allot of things...
What engine, trim, options, mileage do you want. In October of 2000 I bought the following:
98.5 2.8 Quattro Bose Concert, leather, heated seats, sunroof. Pretty much everything except Xenon's with 20K miles for 24K plus tax with Audi Assured Warenty good until 1/03 or 75K.
Hope this helps

Re: Questions? Want to buy A4
best word of advice, don't get a 96 or 97, go for one with a 30 valve 6 if that's what you're looking for, or go for the 1.8T, you can do more to either engine than you can the 12 valves,
also, i'd look for one without suspension mods, and do it yourself. then you can be sure the quality of the installation...

Ted is a friend of a friend of mine, and I know he's looking for a 1.8t..
..So the fact that 96-98 comes in a 12v for the 2.8 doesn't really matter to him. And I agree with you on the suspension, I told him the same thing yesterday when he tried out my car.

Regarding suspension install
Quality of install on suspension? Don't they bolt right up? He may want to check what springs and shocks are included, but what am I missing about the installation?
My '97 hasn't cost my anything since the 50,000 warranty expired except I changed the timing belt. Which, BTW, needs attention on the 97 1.8t engine around 65,000 miles, not the 90,000 factory spec'd period. It is a zero tolerence design. (broken belt takes out the valve train)
