Quick Question

Hey Everyone,

You know when you lock your car, on the gas filler door, there is that needle that extends so you can't open the gas door while the car is locked? What is the actual name of that part? I need to know because it is starting to squeek and I have to take my car in for regular maintanance anyway and wanted to mention it. My friend said it might be called the Gas filler door lock pin? But I thought you guys could tell me, it would probably be in the bentley manual. Thanks guys!!

DIY .. takes 2 seconds .. just squirt a smidge of graphite lock lube or even a dry silicone lube on

it. Operate the lock a few times with the gas door open while you lube it.

I'd call it the fuel door lock pawl.

As Yippers said, lube it yourself.

I told my (old) dealer about it, and the tech ripped off the plastic piece on the fuel filler door. No plastic piece, no squeak...but the fuel filler door no longer sat perfectly flush with the quarter panel (grrrr). If I knew he was going to take that approach, I would have just greased the pin myself!
