Radio reception Syndrome
Is there another way to fix the "radio issue" with these cars without having to remove the headliner to repair the amplifier?
Can you wire it from the radio to your own antenna, maybe one of those discreet ones on the rear window.
I was wondered how to fix the radio issue without removing the headliner.
I have searched and don't see finished threads with this "alternate fix idea".

You are either going to pull out lots of the dash and interior to route a new coax for a new antenna or pull down the headliner to change the amplifier/antenna base. It's probably less work doing the headliner and changing out the base. My VW had the same problem and it took less than 15 minutes to pull the back of the headliner down, change the base out and put it back together.
