Re-aimed my headlights. Much better.
I re-aimed my 98's headlights today to a much more sensible pattern. The right one was primarily lighting up the shoulder, and the left one was aimed quite a bit right of center (!!!), and down much more than the right. The new pattern is pretty much straight ahead for both of them with a very slight bias to the right, and a tad higher, making sure not to blind oncoming drivers. I set them both for the same "elevation". I did alot of testing on dark streets to get it just right. Now I can live with the factory setup. Though not as good, this is a much cheaper fix than replacing the units for $400 or whatever.
I'm ALSO considering removing or modifying the little metal "hat" that is in front of the low-beam and fog bulbs in the headlamp assembly to see if that throws a bit more light (it should!).
Maybe I'm onto something here -- I'll keep you posted...
