Default re-setting the "service" light on a 99.5 A4

I've been bringing my A4 to a local mechanic because to save money vs. $100 oil-changes at my local audi dealer. Staring at me is that damn "I need service...help!" light that won't shut off.

Recently I brought in my A4 to the dealer for a major service and they forgot to reset the service light. (I thought it needed a "key" of some sort a computer hook-up.)

But...he simply twisted the trip odometer one way and adjusted the service stem the other.

HE WOULDN'T EXPLAIN PRECISELY WHAT HE DID ...

I'm hoping someone on the board can explain how to reset the service light without the need for a tool or computer hook-up. thanks!
