Reading that dipstick
Just had my 2001 A4, 1.8T station wagon in for its 10K service. I checked the oil level and the dipstick shows oil above the "level a" (per Owner's manual) which is the "must not add oil" level. The Dealer who did the maintenance says they routinely add extra oil, up to 1/4 of a quart more than the full level shown on the dipstick.
Anyone else come across this? I thought overfilling oil was wrong?!
(I am taking the car back for them to check the oil level.)

overfull TT at Gingerman........
sprayed oil all over the inside motor compartment, fender, hood, grille and bumper!! I dont think any of it made it onto the track....because it was all over the car!!
4.3 quarts...and check you dipstick for cracks and broken plastic parts, mine was broke and it caused the dipstick to read incorrectly...thats why I say 4.3 quarts...cant argue with weights and measurements...its like arguing with a woman (who reads).
