Default rear ended

I was driving my parent's A4 (2.4 V6) this evening and got rear ended while stationary. The car that rear ended me must have been doing 25-30mph.

Damage which is noticeable is the bumper which is all scuffed, with a small crack as well. As far as I can see there is no bodywork damage. What are the chances there being bodywork damage underneath the bumper?

The car (Vauxhall Carlton) that rear ended me had broken headlights and a bent hood. I'm really hoping I'll get away with just having the bumper replaced.

Default Hmm I was rear ended last week as well...trust me if he / she were doing 25~30 MPH your trunk would

be pushed up into the back seat...probably more like 10 MPH from the sound of the damage...which is the speed I've concluded the guy hit me at...maybe even slightly less according to the insurance adjuster.

Check inside that lower lip in the trunk area just above the bumper mysteriously bent in my case ;-(

I'd worry more about yourself and your neck than the car right now...sounds like you're not in the USA 2.4 A4 is not avail here...so I don't know how your laws work but make sure you get checked out by a doc so that you can sue within the year if you should start having serious complications. I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow just to get it documented...my neck has been stiff and fatigued since the day after the accident, hopefully it will go away soon...otherwise I fully expect to be compensated for my discomfort.

BTW - It's more than just a bumper...you're looking at bumper, bumper core, bumper shocks, paint...etc it's expensive.

Regards,

James R.

Default Might wanna check a few things...

Check inside the trunk area below the truck liner in the spare area for damage, inside the passenger area and look for kinks or any sort of damge in the C-pillars and check the passenger doors for any oddities.

I was rear ended a few years back roughly the same speed by a GMC truck and there was frame damage underneath the bumper cover.

Also, might want to go to a hospital to get looked over to document any possible injuries. Even though there may not evident now, it may be aggrevated over time and may surface later on. At the least, it'll be documented if you need to file further claims.

I was talking crap, it must have been more like 10-15 mph.

Took it to the bodyshop and there isn't any bodywork damage. Just a new bumper is needed which they've ordered.

Phew, lucky!
