Specifically, are they "too grabby" or "touchy", or do they have a nice progressive feel?
Joe
Only had my '99 1.8TQMS two weeks and for 800 miles ... when I first test drove it, I thought the breaks were somewhat more sensitive than I was used to ('95 Maxima SE, which had quite a "mushy" pedal), but it didn't take very long at all to get used to the different feel on the A4. However, I'm following recommended break-in (makes for kind of slow driving, obviously), so I haven't really had to play hard with the brakes yet so I don't know how they will be under hard use circumstances. They seem easy enough to modulate so far.

Default So far so good (more)

I've had my 99 1.8t 4 months (4,600 miles) and brake performance has been fine. My only real complaint is that the ABS is too sensitive...it comes on a bit early for my taste (but that may just be me). I haven't really pushed the car too hard yet, but in two weeks I'll be autocrossing it. I'll post my observations then.
Regards,
Rodney
'99 silver A4 1.8tqms

My A4 is 3 1/2 mos old with 3,800 mi. I think the brakes are a little too sensitive, but it is mostly the first time they are applied, esp when wet. According to the archives, it supposedly gets better with time, and I think I am noticing it a little less and miles roll up. Or maybe I'm just getting more used to it.
'99 1.8qms Melange

Got a 99 2.8 qtip with 500 miles on it.
The brakes are a little firmer than my last 3 japanese cars but when you get used to them they definitely feel better than the mushy types.

Default 2700 miles, pedal is firm, only requires soft touch...love-em (more)

Assuming the brakes are going to stay as they are, I like them a lot. If LaBomba's brakes are representative, I can only surmise that a lot of folks are accustomed to the feel of lousy brakes :-)
