Default Recode Mileage VAG COM Problem , a little help?

Got my vag com to recode my mileage, I'm following the instructions here <A HREF="http://ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/Non-Immo-cluster-swapping.html">http://ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/Non-Immo-cluster-swapping.html</A>.

I get all the way to step 8,
[select]
[17 - Instruments]
[Adaptation - 10]
I enter channel number 09, and it can't read anything. Channel 6, 7, and 8 all have values, but channel 09 does not read.

Anybody have any ideas?

Are you doing this to a new gauge cluster? It will only work with a new gauge cluster and only within the 1st 100 miles. It will not work if your trying to recode a used cluster...not to mention it's illegal.

is not that simple you need the login code first to get to adaptation and set the miles

Its on the Ross-tech website, it says some clusters require a login code: the code is 13861
