I'm thinking I'll just plug up the gigantic hole my dad put in the oil pan with a rag or something to keep stuff out.
And is it a good idea to replace the oil line just right inside the lower pan?

The tube is slightly dented, but it's not broken or cracked.

my engine has been sitting without oil for months, you'll be fine (edited)
The hard oil lines inside the oil pan come off easily, it's just a single screw holding each. If the line looks damaged, replace it, it feeds the oil to your engine and any crease in it will reduce your oil flow.
