Default Remove T/B, 1996 2.8 30v

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/80572/a428q.jpg"></center><p>
I need a few tips on how to remove the T/B for cleaning. I got no books, pictures, descriptions of any kind, so could do with a little assistance.

So if anyone could care to take a break from the high end tune-up talk and post a little more than a headline to help me out would be much appretiated!

Or any links of course, if it already exists any guidlines around..

Default at the back of the intake manifold by where the battery is...

remove engine covers with flat head... then poke around back there and come up with the tools to remove the TB. Get a new gasket for it in advance too.

Default thanks! But it's really tight back there, I can only see...

..1 screw that can get to. Then I can feel 1 other underneath, but it is very little room there to do anything.

Would be good if anyone who did it on this exact type of engine could give a few steps on what to do.

Default If it's the idle air control valve you're after, Kris Hansen has a how-to

posted on his website. Do a search for one of his posts, and you'll see the link to his website in his sig. Cleaning that valve should restore normal idling...for a while at least.

If you do need to remove the TB start pulling stuff out of the way until you can get it out. It shouldn't be too terrible.

Default Suggest you get a manual -

not worth the risk of messing something up.

Default RKA: Thanks alot!! I take the freedom to post the link here...

..for anyone who might need it.

http://www.kris-hansen.com/Audi/throttle_body_clean.htm

Seems to be a pain on this engine, so I guess I'm in for a challange.

Oh, that was not a removal actually, only of the air "breather" as he name it..
