Replacing bose with aftermarket radio - specific odd question
I searched and didn't find an answer for this specific question.
I replaced my factory Bose radio this weekend (stopped working). I went aftermarket for Bluetooth, etc. I ordered from Crutchfield and got all of the appropriate harnesses to keep the factory amp intact. I wired the speaker outputs to the front and rear pre-outs on the new head unit. What seemed odd is that there are 4 wires going to 2 pins (2 wires each) that match up to the one of the front sets of powered outputs on the harness. If I connect those, the middle speaker in the driver door is enabled. If I don't connect them, it's silent. I never even noticed that speaker was there since there's one in the driver door only. Can anyone fill me in on whether that speaker is active with the factory unit, and if not, what its purpose is? I think I might disconnect it since it seems to overpower the midrange, I'm guessing since it's running off the head units internal amp which might push more wattage than the factory amp at any given volume.
Thanks in advance,
Ryan

I think I may have found my answer. I was referring to a 3rd speaker that exists on the driver door only. It's about midway between the woofer and tweeter. From what I've read it's a speaker specifically for the carphone.
