Default repost from earlier. Define "cold air intake"

The way I understand it the stock intake pulls air from the outside of the car. A "cone filter" intake take the air from inside the hood. I would think that air is much hotter than the outside air. I also understand that a cone filter intake just increases flow not decreases the temp of incoming air. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Default You're right. For all intents and purposes, nobody has developed a TRUE cold air intake for the...

A4 (1.8 or 2.8). A TRUE cold air intake would usually be mounted behind the bumper, in the cowl, or somewhere else outside the engine bay and would pull actual cold air.

Hopefully that will change soon...

Default Hopefully?

Is someone trying to develop one? A certain 12V tuner perhaps?

=)

Default I had the AEM cold air intake for my Integra. The cone was in front of the

front passenger side wheel. Sucked air from 8 inches off the ground. Worked REALLY well.

I miss that car

(And NO it was not riced out...very subtle body kit, nice rims...looked awesome.)

Default There was a website on cooking in your engine.

Really. It had recipes, how to wrap it so it would not leak, and what car engines had approximate cooking temperatures, at different locations ON the engine.

Can't find it now.... They had a mean technique for a grilled reuben.
