Residue build up on ignition coils

So I did my valve cover gasket today. 1.8t awm '01. I had small oil leaks where some of it was getting into cylinder's 1+2. When I was doing the job and pulled my coilpacks out I noticed this funny white creamy residue on each coil. At first I thought it might be a product of the oil that seeped through there. However only two cyclinders were leaking and all 4 of them show this.
I'm not really a mechanic so I don't know what it means. Can anyone help me out? Car seems to be running really good toherwise. I don't notice any performance issues.
It was nice to see what looked to me like a fairly clean engine under the cover considering it's on 161k miles
