So I got my new 225/45/17 tires installed on Saturday. Low and behold after I get home I find one of centre caps is missing. Call up the installer to ask if they see it laying around, and they tell me "no".

Obviously the installer did not snap in the cap all the way, and it let loose once on the road. Manager tells me the caps get old and fall off all the time. What a lame cover up.

Besides shelling out 60 bucks for a new cap, do you think I should escalate this - maybe put a stop payment for the installation on my c/c, until they re-imburse me. Or forget about it and just chalk it up to my bad luck?

Anyone have a spare 17" rs4 centre cap to sell me really cheap?

my wheels have 35k on them and they are all still on. The audi center caps fit very tight. It's one reason why getting them off is a minor pita without the cap pulling tool or a very flat screwdriver.

Look at the other 4 caps and see if they are secured properly. If not, odds are the missing cap was also improperly installed. If the other 4 were installed properly, then you're probably SOL.

They don't just come off...they actually have a pretty tight fit, so I don't buy that at all.

www.clairparts.com should sell you one for about $20 or so.

i demanded that they get me a replacement. they complied. and it's not $60, its $20.
