I need an oil change (oil service light came on almost a week), and my dealer won't be available till Thursday this week. Is it safe to get an oil change at a place like Sears?

I thought about doing it after reading an article on edmunds.com...
But I'm not sure if I have enough experience and I don't think I have enough tools to do it. I don't really wanna mess around w/ it cos I need my car to get to school / work.

But the oil service light came on since last week...
Maybe there's something wrong... cos the oil pressure light came on in Dec. last yr, but dealer couldn't find any problem, they just recommanded me to replace the camshaft seal...
Thanx for ur help.

You're just talking about the "service oil" prompt in the odometer, right?......
Ignore it. It knows nothing about the actual state of your oil. It's just counting miles since the last time it was reset. Half the time the dealership never resets them.
I hope you aren't talking about a big nasty red warning light in your trip computer with a big oil icon in it. THAT is serious. That means there's no oil in your engine.
If it's just the little "service oil" text in your odometer, don't worry about it. You're cool.
