I wish...
... I wanted Ecru Leather interior, and at that time, it was not available. Sigh... Next time, though! It's so close to the old Oceanic Blue, I loved it...
Stan

The very first A4 I sat in Mosconi Center car show in November '95 was a pelican blue A4Q with Ecru
cloth interior. I asked my buds to take a picture of me in it because I said that would be my next car. I tried and waited for a blue one with the cloth interior, but ended up with my silver one instead. No regrets, but that blue one made me fall in love with Audi.

It's a hard color to reproduce in a photo
My 98.5 pelican blue (silly name, great color) Avant is pictured in the registry, but the photos are too flat; they don't capture the color's brilliance.
I'm test driving a 2001 Acura CL Type-S right now (nice car!) that's painted a sorta bright metallic bronze/pumpkin/orange/sweet-potato/what-have-you. Park this sucker next to my car on a sunny day and you'd go into Pokemon-style seizures looking at the contrast. %^)

Picked up my new Pelican '00 A4 2 days ago.....
When I first saw the car on the lot, I had never seen that color in person before and wasn't sure I liked it at all...a little to blue for my tastes. But, i bought the car and I think I like it a lot now. It will look much better when I tint the windows and put some 17" wheels on it. I picked up a pretty good A4; 1.8tq sport manual, sport seats, moonroof, and xenons...everything I wanted except the color. The guys in the Quattro Club of FL are giving me a hard time about the color, calling it the "girly Santorin Blue", but they haven't seen it in person yet, and they will see it at our meeting tomorrow.
I didn't like the Casablanca white on my old A4 at first either, but ended up loving it, so I'm sure I will love this color in another week.
Christian J. Long

Been driving my PB Avant for 2 months now...
...and it looks just as sharp to me now as on day 1. I really can't understand why Audi dealers avoid it like the plague, or why Audi charges extra for it, especially since the Audi literature features Pelican Blue so often!
I had to wait 5 months for my car and deal with 2 dealers, since the first dealer told me that Audi wouldn't accept an order for PB. Total baloney. Then the 2nd dealer agreed to order it if I'd give them a $2K nonrefundable deposit. Why??
Most of the other carmakers have similar colors, and those colors tend to look great and be really popular. Like VW and Honda. Why not Audi?? Don't tell me it doesn't look right on an A4, 'cause I know that ain't true!

Many dealers are color wussies
My dealer didn't blink at accepting a deposit on my pb Avant, but many have said they didn't want to get stuck with a "non-conforming color" if the deal fell through. What horsesh*t. It seems to me that stocking a bright color here and there to contrast with the silvers, santorins, melanges and cactii would create brand excitement and accent the car's sporting potential.
FWIW, my salesguy told me they had three offers to buy my Avant while it sat in their showroom awaiting delivery.
