Default School Me On The KO4

Ok so because Im new I need you guys to school me on the KO4? I am considering a newer (B5) 1.8T, because it seems like with a small investment you can squeeze more HP out of this engain. Is it because there are more upgrades for the 1.8T and not so much for the 2.8? What is the differance in the different K04 models (-15 or -20)? What kind of HP gain are you gonig to see with these? All said and done what are we looking at for max HP out of each engine before I need to start doing heavy engine modifcation (pistons, etc.)? This forum is great, thanks!

Default the dash number is a plumbing thing

the A4 1.8T uses a -15. the inlet/outlet are different for other dash numbers. a K04 kit is good for 235hp +/-.

Default Hmmm.. im gonna try to answer

Just so you know I'm high as a kite on perkastat but i'll try to make sense.

A 1.8t has more potential then a 2.8 given the turbo. With just a chip you can get 50 hp out of a 1.8t. The newer ones are DBW and you can get programing for them if you deciede to get a ko4 eliminator. They make ko4-15 kits for both the newer and older 1.8t. You can also look into APR stage 3 or Pes t-28 for the 1.8t for a huge increase in horse power. These kits are still cheaper then a supercharger for the 30 valve I believe.

Default Disadvantages?

Any disadvangtages to getting the 1.8T? Someone on here said that they are more prone to problems? So what kind of HP am I looking at if I chip it and do the ko4?

Default the years you stated are non dbw cars.

dbw=drive by wire. GIAC is a commonly used type of programing. You need programming to get the most out of a turbo upgrade.
