Default Searched archives, more confused now. Advice on OEM brake pad upgrades?

So many brands, so many claims. I just picked up my 97 1.8t from an oil change and mechanic tells me I need of rear pads soon (65,000 miles on original pads) and fronts will need replacing before long as well.

I don't autocross and my car is basically stock, so I'm not looking to upgrade to new rotors/calipers/SS brake lines/etc. I just want to find some pads that work at least as well as stock, but have less dust and noise.

Any real-world experience on what works or doesnt as well as sources for pads would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Robert

mintex, same OEM performance, less dust. Sounds like what you want.

Default Mintex Red.

Absolutely zero dust in the back, light in the front. How are things down in Oxford?

Thanks, I'll get some.

Brake pads, the only pads you'll ever catch me buying :-P

The weather is great, I washed the car for the first time in over a month yesterday (boy did it need it!)! Any Memphis Audi get-togethers I ought to know about?

Default Ferodo

Better than OEM performance, less dust.
(Although probably more dust than Mintex Red)

Default Weather is great

Beautiful today, great temp. I'm headed out for a long bike ride I think. At any rate, Feb 28 there's a VW/Audi GTG out at Shelby Farms. It's mostly VW, but there were a handful of us Audis there. The link for more info escapes me right now, but let me know if you want more info and I'll find out. Take care.
