This seems to be the purpose of Audiworld now.....................
And I'm quoting from the press release here:
////
"BVerticals will revolutionize the way enthusiast sites provide service to their online communities," said Gillies. "At the same time, we will bring together a large audience that is fiercely loyal to the member Web sites of our 'e-co/op.' This will allow us to compete with large Internet portals by sending informed shoppers who are ready to buy to manufacturer, dealer and independent Web sites."
PickupTruck.com, VWVortex.com and AudiWorld.com attract more than 800,000 enthusiasts and new visitors each month. The sites, because of their frequently updated and original content, attract high levels of repeat traffic with most visitors returning every eight days or sooner. BVerticals' Web sites will function as vertical portals, funneling sales leads to manufacturer Web sites, large dealer group Web sites, third party lead generation Web sites and direct sales Web sites. PickupTruck.com, for example, has an agreement with CarsDirect.com, allowing their community members to order, finance and arrange for delivery of a new car or truck over the Web.
Tom Stallkamp, former vice chairman at Daimler-Chrysler and current vice-chairman and CEO of MSX International, is a PickupTruck.com board member. He also will hold a seat on the BVerticals board.
"Aggregating these enthusiast sites to gain economies and to increase the consumer value in this marketplace makes sense," Stallkamp said. "The Internet started with a business-to-consumer focus as the promise of an interactive media took shape. Business-to-business was the next logical step. Now it's clear that the Internet should be used for highly targeted interactions, either with enthusiasts, consumers, or businesses, to maximize the delivery of relevant and timely information."
////
You guys decide what this means. Are we an online community here, or are we simply consumers being "funneled" to other companies to purchase products? Is AW a portal or is it a forum for enthusiasts to express our opinions about products and tuners?
You guys might also want to check out Bverticals. This is the entity that was formed back when Vortex, AW, and PickupTrucks "merged".

Very interesting. But that seems to be how things work.
For instance, many car clubs have a similar relationship where companies sponsor the clubs so they get their name out. In turn, clubs like being sponsored because they get deals on stuff. I guess it's a win/win situation.
We just need to make sure that the limitations placed on us as a result of this coporatization isn't too great and we maintain most of our rights to say what we want about products. This kinda goes back to the whole group buy fiasco.

THIS IS NOT A PUBLIC FORUM.
Period.
Comprende???
If you want democracy, improve your site, maybe we'll all jump over there.
Doubt it though.
But if we did, and your site grew and grew and took up more and more of your time, as well as became more and more "business-like" as you retained more and more advertisers, who had vested interests in the content of said site, would you like the forum members (more accurately, certain forum members) to consistently bitch and moan about it?
Justin - You're making politics out of this. That's not what it is - you have no vote, no say, no nothing. So kill the democratic rhetoric cause it's useless here.
If you despise the management of your workplace, are you helping the situation any by constantly complaining to your coworkers? THAT is an accurate analogy, rather than the political one you've been voicing of late.
