Default Seeya Delta radio, Im getting the concert stereo

Seriously though--anyone perform this mod before??? Changing the entire console to fit the newer style(larger) radio?
Anyone know of a wrecked A4 I can find one in???

Default Why don't you just get a real stereo? If you're going to do the install anyway, you may as well...

get some decent sound out of it.

Im sure it sounds better than the delta!!
And besides dont you get better sound by upgrading your speakers. How would it sound then with the concert stereo? Besides I like the layout better than my 1997

Default Yeah speakers will do mroe than just the head unit - but I'm just saying if yer gonna go through...

the trouble of replacing the HU - you may as well get the additional power, sound quality, and features of an aftermarket deck.

Default I did installed before Symphony radio, had to do a lot of mod to fit it..

I sold couple days ago, not worth doing it, to older car, the parts are very expensive to make it properly mounted into the console... it looks nice but too expensive...
I would suggest to stay with regular one din size radio, other wise it will cost you lot of $$$$, I'm getting concert headunit...

Default Read More..

If you can get good price it's up to you how much work do you want to do.. I have tried to do it,I study electrical part the most, but what I have found is few problems they are:

First: the top buttons on older are differently rewired then the current 00 A4 (need new wires and connectors), there are less wires connecting buttons on 00 a4 then on 96-99 a4, it's possible to do but needs to be rewired completely

Second: make sure you got the right symphony radio, if you have BOSE, it has to be BOSE, or NON-BOSE, because if you don't then you have to run extra wire to the connector from the back of the radio to diagnostic port to reprogram the radio (plus make sure the radio has been updated, you might have problems getting replacement if the radio have problems like the other guys on the forum had) if you decide to go make sure you get the whole back support for bracket for radio and climate control, from the other car..

Third: the climate control unit connectors need to be rewired completely (new connectors, and wires), some features might not work because there are more sensors about 4 on 00 then on older a4 connected to climate control, so you might have problems running the unit... other wise you can stay with old one and modified to fit it,

it's up to you, but you will need to study the electrical part and trace wires where it goes, and what it does, the voltage has to be right too, a lot of work has to be done... everything is possible with money and time,
