Sent my turbo to Gpop shop. They told me its not worth upgrading to k04 because...
exhaust housing was cracked and it had internal damage. Now a k04 from them cost $600...is that resonable? Im only getting a $20 credit. They claimed that my k03 was an L version and flows less then other k03's and even a k03 from them would be better then mine. Anyone know if their telling the truth? Also I have an Apr chip. Do i need to upgrade to a k04 chip. What do you guys suggest go with k03 or k04 and what chip is good for k04? Thanks.

They are right. But they also do NOT sell a TRUE K04.
They also typically sell a "rebuilt" turbo, not new.
The K04 they sell is NOT a true K04, the exhaust housing and wheel are the smaller K03 S and there IS a substantial difference. The true K04 will hold up much much longer at K04 chip program levels.
The true K04's run from $7-800 and are well worth the extra $$.
