Default should the engine/exhaust be hot when I back out the cat bolts?

I plan to soak the bolts w/ PB Blaster the night before and then soak them again in the morning before I TRY to remove the 3 cat bolts. Should they be cold or should I fire up the engine beforehand to get them warm?

If you like working around a hot motor--go for it! I prefer cold. :-)
