You'll have electrical problems years down the road if water got into the passenger compartment.

Flood cars are almost worthless. Water gets into areas and forms rust from the inside out. Engine replacement is a plus but I would not touch that car unless it goes for 500 bucks. That way you can spend the 8K to really get it fixed.
