Default Should I go back to 205/55/16s? Currently have 225/50/16.

It seems the wider 225s increased sidewall flex on the car, causing the Audi to 'wag' its tail a bit before making a quick lane change.

Or do I just need stiffer sidewall 225 tires?

Looking at Dunlop Sport Maxx or Goodyear GS-D3.

Ideas/comments/opinions?

Cheap 17" rims? :P

Default what tires are you running now? I am running Falken 451's in 225/50/16

and have no issues with side wall flex.

Default Yokohama Avid V4s

I made a mistake and ended up with the V4s all-seasons. Never again. FL means SUMMER TIRES.

Maybe other 225 tires will be fine as long as they are summers?

Default I had 225/50/16 BFG g-Force Sports on my A4 and they were noticably

better (more grip) than the dunlop 9000 205/55/16s that came on the car.

Default Z rated or higher will have stiffer side walls than V rated, H rated etc.

i.e. the more performance oriented tires will be stiffer all around.

Default I had Z rated Yoko's before, and hated them they were soft in ride and sidewall sway...

On both of our cars right now Dunlop Sport 5000 much nicer reponsse and control over the Yoko's. You don't need to change from 225 but I would change from the Yoko Avid V4 (Those are actually what I just put on my 67 year old mothers Ford Focus wagon for a comfortable ride)
Skip the goodyear IMO

Default It's the particular tire brand you have that's causing the "problem"...are you driving more

aggressively and is that the ONLY modification you made since you began noticing the "flexing" ?

Default It's gotten a little better after adjusting the suspension a bit...

... to a more firm damping, but it's too harsh for my tastes at the moment, so the suspension is going a bit soft soon while I get higher performance tires. Hopefully I can find a happy medium somewhere.
