that was in 52F, 2.007 60', my last run of the night. My first run was a 14.407@94.97MPH, 2.054 60' in 55F, which is my best start ever, so I figured I was in for a really good shot at getting under 14.0. 2nd and 3rd runs were 14.53 and 14.54 (bogged this one, 2.189 60'). Funny thing is, my last launch (around 4800RPM) felt awesome and I thought I was going to get under 2.0. I even had a little wheel spin, which has never happened.
I don't want to keep raising my launch RPM, because I don't want to beat the **** out of this clutch. I'm getting really comfortable with launching it and was very consistent tonight, but my 60' times are simply subpar. I'll take one more crack at hitting 13s next week at the VW/Audi Show and Go, then I'm giving up on the K04 (and myself, for that matter). At the very least, I should be able to put up some good races in the eliminations with how consistent I am. 3322lbs with the driver, tonight.

yes sir, 45 psi :-) So letting it go at 6k won't be bad for the clutch?
I know it can certainly take more power than my engine has, but I wasn't sure if higher RPM launches could still be damaging. I'll crank it up next week, then.

she was pulling as strong as ever last night. My 60' is just killing me. I know at some point...
your 60' time is limited to the power you have, but 2.0 is not the limit of a low 14s car. Changing my 3-4 shift point to 6400RPM was a big help. My stupid 5500 shift point before was a real time eater.

2nd on this method. ANY kind of launch is bad for a clutch ; )
Most pro drag racers who have to use a traditional clutch will hold steady revs and then dump the clutch. Then they use slipping the clutch to control wheel-spin while keeping the throttle open. This keeps the engine from bogging down. I've used this with the motorcycle many times to pull away from a stop as quickly as possible. I don't know if you're using a race clutch or not...definitely shouldn't do this with a stock, or close to stock, clutch ; )

No it wont but you shouldn't have to launch that high
for a K04 the sweet spot for launching should be 5k-5500. Going above that will put you past its peak hp and where it is making less tq, 6k launch tends to be a good place to launch the BT setups.

That would be the right way to launch a fwd or rwd car but not so great for a turbo AWD car.
If anything you want to play the throttle if there is massive tire spin, but you want some tire spin on our cars. Slipping the clutch makes things even worse since it will cause boost to drop and can cause more damage to the clutch because of increased heat. It is just best to let the clutch do its job and do what you can to decrease the resistance at the tires.
